Welcome!

My name is Katie, and I’m a twenty-something female living in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. Most of you who visit this site will be people who know me, but to those of you who don’t know me, welcome to my site! I created this website so that I could have a space to share, organize, and document basically whatever I want to. I guess you can look at it as an online journal/scrapbook.  It’s a place for me to share what’s on my mind, post pictures and quotes that resonate with me, and record the books I read and movies/tv shows I watch. I can blog about the music I’m listening to, and I can share about my day to day life adventures. Basically, I can publish whatever I want to (within reason of course. Some things just shouldn’t be shared online ever…).

I welcome comments, thoughts, opinions, and feedback on anything I post. If you like something, let me know. If you agree with what I said, let me know. Or you if you have another point of view or advice on a post, share it.

Like T.I & Rihanna said back in 2008, “Just live your life, no telling where it’ll take ya”.

08/28/2015 Day 240 – A Great Song From The 2000’s

One of my most played songs from this decade is this great jam from 2001. They were one of the hottest girl groups, and Queen B still rules the charts and is one of the top Pop superstars. Here is Destiny’s Child “Survivor”.

Destiny's_child-survivor(single)

Now that you’re out of my life
I’m so much better
You thought that I’d be weak without you
But I’m stronger
You thought that I’d be broke without you
But I’m richer
You thought that I’d be sad without you
I laugh harder
You thought I wouldn’t grow without you
Now I’m wiser
Though that I’d be helpless without you
But I’m smarter
You thought that I’d be stressed without you
But I’m chillin’
You thought I wouldn’t sell without you
Sold 9 million

I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m not gon give up (What?)
I’m not gon stop (What?)
I’m gon work harder (What?)
I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m gonna make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin’ (What?)

I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m not gon give up (What?)
I’m not gon stop (What?)
I’m gon work harder (What?)
I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m gonna make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin’ (What?)

Thought I couldn’t breathe without
I’m inhaling
You thought I couldn’t see without you
Perfect vision
You thought I couldn’t last without you
But I’m lastin’
You thought that I would die without you
But I’m livin’
Thought that I would fail without you
But I’m on top
Thought it would be over by now
But it won’t stop
Thought that I would self destruct
But I’m still here
Even in my years to come
I’m still gon be here

I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m not gon give up (What?)
I’m not gon stop (What?)
I’m gon work harder (What?)
I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m gonna make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin’ (What?)

I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m not gon give up (What?)
I’m not gon stop (What?)
I’m gon work harder (What?)
I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m gonna make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin’ (What?)

I’m wishin’ you the best
Pray that you are blessed
Bring much success, no stress, and lots of happiness
(I’m better than that)
I’m not gon blast you on the radio
(I’m better than that)
I’m not gon lie on you and your family
(I’m better than that)
I’m not gon hate on you in the magazines
(‘m better than that)
I’m not gon compromise my Christianity
(I’m better than that)
You know I’m not gon diss you on the internet
Cause my mama taught me better than that

I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m not gon give up (What?)
I’m not gon stop (What?)
I’m gon work harder (What?)
I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m gonna make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin’ (What?)

I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m not gon give up (What?)
I’m not gon stop (What?)
I’m gon work harder (What?)
I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m gonna make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin’ (What?)

(Beyonce)
Oh (oh) oh (oh)…

After of all of the darkness and sadness
Soon comes happiness
If I surround my self with positive things
I’ll gain prosperity

I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m not gon give up (What?)
I’m not gon stop (What?)
I’m gon work harder (What?)
I’m a survivor (What?)
I’m gonna make it (What?)
I will survive (What?)
Keep on survivin’ (What?)

08/27/2015 Day 239 – A Song My Parents Would Play During Parties

Well, my parents aren’t roaring party throwers, at least they haven’t been since I’ve been alive, so I’m not sure of a song that they would play during a party.

But, I would guess that it would be a song from the 1970’s, since those were their prime younger years (age 15-30 throughout the decade).

Perhaps something like this 1974 hit, from Canadian band Bachman-Turner Overdrive, “Takin’ Care of Business”

08/26/2015 Day 238 – A Song From An Artist/Band Whose T-Shirt I Own

Well, I wish I had an actual t-shirt from an artist that has actually been worn by them, but unfortunately that is not the case. The closest I come to that is t-shirts from concert tours.

At one time, I had a t-shirt from this band. They have yet to make an appearance on this challenge so now is the time.

Here is 2004’s Mr. Brightside from The Killers.

8/25/2015 Day 237 – A Song I Would Like To Sing Live If I Knew Every Note Would Be Perfect

This is tricky, because there’s so many great songs out there and a lot of my favourites have already been chosen in this challenge. But while browsing my music library, I’ve come up with this one:

Seasons of Love – From “Rent”

Seasons_of_Love_-_Rent

If I knew I was going to sound amazing, and sing every note perfectly (even though it’s written for multiple voices) I could definitely give this song the emotion and power that it deserves. ❤

08/24/2015 Day 236 – A Song Beginning With The Same Letter As My Last Name

This is definitely a favourite. It was a very popular school assembly song during my year of teaching in London, England and I grew to love it. This not only because I love its sound and musicality, but because when you see and listen to hundreds of children singing along, you can’t help but feel the power of the song. It’s a very motivating song, with a fantastic message. It vocalizes the idea that everyone has the power to be the best, and to succeed at whatever goals they set for themselves. Just believe in yourself, work hard, and you’ll be standing in the hall of fame, where everyone knows your name.
