This is tricky, because there’s so many great songs out there and a lot of my favourites have already been chosen in this challenge. But while browsing my music library, I’ve come up with this one:
Seasons of Love – From “Rent”
If I knew I was going to sound amazing, and sing every note perfectly (even though it’s written for multiple voices) I could definitely give this song the emotion and power that it deserves. ❤
Well, this is a broadway classic from Les Miserables, and this particular version is performed by Lea Michele and Idina Menzel, and was featured on an episode of Glee.
I adore both of these ladies. I first saw Idina Menzel in the motion picture version of Rent, and Lea caught my attention from the very first episode of Glee. Today, they continue to prove how mega talented they are and they have both solidified their spots in my musical heart. Plus, there is a kind of uncanny resemblance between the two women, which made their roles as mother/daughter on Glee even that much more believable!
Here is Lea Michele and Idina Menzel, performing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables, as featured on Glee.
Those who know me best know that I am a huge fan of musicals. And while I wasn’t overly impressed by Wicked The Musical when I first saw it in London, England about two years ago, there are two songs that I will always remember from the performance that sent chills down my spine.
I was recently reminded of this when I saw an amateur accapella group perform some Broadway Hits with my good friend Gail a few weeks ago.
I am grateful, happy and forever appreciative that I have a friendship in my life like the one expressed by Elphaba & Glinda (recorded by Idina Menzel & Kristin Chenoweth in this particular version) with that good friend Gail, who is everything from a mentor who advises me and shows me leadership, to a co-worker who I respect and enjoy working with, to a best friend who gives great advice, laughs with me, vents with me, and schemes with me, to practically family. My life has truly been changed for the better because of her.
So, here is For Good – From Wicked the Musical, performed by Kristin Chenoweth & Idina Menzel
